Number 8 Station Street is a four-level office building adjacent to the Train Station, acquired by EPG on behalf of an institutional investor. The building houses the Australian Hydrographic Service, an agency of the Department of Defence. This Commonwealth Government agency is responsible for the provision and publication of nautical charts and other information required for the safety of ships navigating in Australian waters. It is also responsible for the provision of operational surveying support and maritime Military Geographic Information (MGI) for Defence operations and exercises.
